Inspired by real events and by places where I have travelled, lived or served, the series blends historical accuracy with compelling fiction,
taking readers from Britain and Sweden to Berlin, Kosovo, Afghanistan and beyond.
Alongside the series is Letters From Afghanistan, a companion collection drawn from my experiences of operational service.

The Beginning. The story begins in the late 1950s as six children from Britain and Sweden discover friendship, adventure and the events that will shape their lives for more than sixty years.

The Price of Courage.
Doing the Right Thing Has Consequences. Tim discovers that standing up for others comes at a heavy personal cost. Kept apart from Petra and the friends he longs to be with, he learns that true friendship is measured not by distance, but by loyalty, patience and hope.

The Next Step.
Childhood is over. As the six friends leave school and begin military service and specialist training, they discover that adulthood brings responsibility, sacrifice and love.
With marriages, new careers and a changing world ahead, their lives are about to take very different paths.
Book Four
Into the Fire. Promotion brings new responsibilities as the six friends train the next generation of soldiers before returning to operational service.
Tours of Northern Ireland and the First Gulf War test their courage and leadership.
As regular service comes to an end, the girls join the Intelligence Corps while Tim remains with the Battalion the others continue serving with the TA SAS, proving that their commitment to serve is only just beginning.

As Stephen, Johan, Vinka and Marlin enter the challenging world of Psychological Operations, Tim and Petra continue their own military careers.

Letters From Afghanistan
Beyond the Headlines.
Written during two Psychological Operations tours of Afghanistan, these letters record very different experiences.
The first tour placed me alongside troops on the ground, while the second took me across Helmand Province installing radio broadcast systems and training local operators.
Together they offer a unique insight into modern military operations, far beyond the headlines.
